Updated the map with the overview feature

Down in the bottom right corner you can now drag the map overview window to quickly pan the map. This should help with navigating a bit. More changes coming soon. Springtime activities with the family have obviously slowed them down a bit though.

Quick Jump location finding box

I’ve updated the map page to include a Quick Jump box for those that need to search around and panning the map isn’t fast enough. Just type in a location (city, state / zip) and hit the enter key. The map will pan to the requested area. Places found that aren’t found or are out of bounds will result in an error message.

New Home Page Statistics

I added a few statistics to the home page showing total places rated, recent ratings and top contributors. Next up on the change list is an alternative to the map view, and a quick location search box to jump to a new location without panning the map.

New Home Page and Default Location Setup

I added a new home page for announcements and soon there will be statistics available. Also, new users will set a default map area like the old site, to minimize download size when viewing the map for the first time. Returning visitors will not see the new setup options as there is already a location set from the previous visit.

Updated Review Display

I’ve updated the way reviews are loaded. I didn’t like the popup as much as I thought I would so now they load on the side panel.

I think it’s a bit easier on the eyes and loads quicker.

Version 2 Release

Version 2 of the Friend or Foe site is finally ready!

There are still a few reviews from the old site that need to be converted (the automated conversion process couldn’t find matches to a couple hundred places). These will be added over the next couple weeks.

There will be new features coming soon, but I wanted to go ahead and get the new version out because it is much easier to use and hopefully will encourage new users to contribute more readily.

This version has many new features that are detailed in the new How To guide, so be sure to check it out. Or, feel free to dive right in and get started Adding Reviews. If you are familiar with the old site this version should be a breeze to figure out.
